2013 National Sevens Circuit dates announced

Monday 10 June 2013 The 2013 National Sevens Circuit dates have been announced. In a return to recent traditions, Kisumu hosts the opening round of the Circuit, the Dala Sevens, which has been set for 3rd/4th August. Action then heads to Nairobi for the George Mwangi Kabeberi Memorial Sevens on 10th/11th August at the RFUEA Grounds.  Teams will break on 17th/18th August before heading to Mombasa for the Driftwood Sevens on 24th/25th August. Kenya name strong RWC Sevens training squad

Kenya have unveiled a 16-man squad to attend a 10-day training camp in London ahead of the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow. The make-up of the squad was named on Thursday 6 June 2013 at the RFUEA Grounds by Kenya’s assistant coach, Felix Ochieng. While in London, the squad will be trimmed to 12 before departing for Moscow on 25 June, three days ahead of their campaign in Pool C alongside Samoa, Zimbabwe and Philippines. Kenya beat Fiji to reach London semis

A commanding team performance saw Kenya reach the Marriott Sevens main cup semi finals with a 20-7 quarter final win over Fiji. Kenya led 10-0 at half time courtesy of two unconverted tries from Oscar Ouma and Willy Ambaka. Ouma would land his brace in the second half with Humphrey Kayange scoring Kenya’s fourth try in a match that they dominated from gun to tape. Kenya reaches cup quarters in London

Two wins and one loss on match day one were good enough to secure Kenya’s passage to the main cup quarters at the Marriott London Sevens, the last leg of the 2012/2013 HSBC Sevens World Series. Kenya began with a 31-19 win over Wales, before going down 17-31 to New Zealand in their second Pool B game. Needing a win in their final fixture, Kenya registered a 38-12 win over Canada. Curtains fall on the HSBC Sevens World Series in London

Nairobi, Friday 10 May 2013 The Marriott London Sevens kicks off on Saturday 11 May 2013 at Twickenham. The final round of the 2012/2013 HSBC Sevens World Series is unlike the previous eight rounds of the circuit in that it is a 12 team tournament, contrary to the 16 team tournaments that have previously been played.
