Zimbabwe opened their campaign with an emphatic 38-5 win over Royal Welsh Warriors while Spain did damage to Goshawks pinning them 29-0. In another pulsating encounter Emerging Boks were given a scare by Auckland Vikings and narrowly escaped with a 28-24 win.
