OPENING MATCHES RESULTS

The three Kenyan Squads have so far played their opening matches and have all brought in mixed results, as the fourteenth edition of the Safari Sevens entered its second day at the RFUEA grounds. Samoa , Japan and Emerging Boks have also won their opening encounters defeating Uganda 36- 5, Tanzania 38- 0 and Morocco  36- 7 respectively.

 Kenya’s Gibson Weru opened the scores touching down at the corner flag and momments later Lavin Asego was on the mark to extend his teams lead to 10- 0. Ben Nyambu also put his name on the score sheet going past the Hamilton defense to touch down under the posts. Asego’s conversion was on the mark as Kenya led 17- 0 into the breather. After the half time break Hamilton Raiders pulled one back through G Voss, but substitute Leon Adongo’s try at the corner flag diminished all their hopes as Kenya won the match22- 5.

Kenya’s second side Shujaa and Chairman’s select all went down in their opening matches but not before giving up a good fight. Le Bleus from france beat Chairmans 12- 5, while Shujaa lost 22- 5  to Samurai.

Earlier own in the opening matches of the day schools category, Nairobi Province beat first timers zimbabwe to lift the Plate finals, while Western versus Nyanza’s Main cup finals will kick off at 11 am.

Meanwhile Kenya will take to the field again at 12 pm when they play Tanzania in their second pool match.
