Les Bleus Name Side for Safari Sevens

Former Kenya seven-a-side technical adviser Christophe Rouchaleou will handle a French Select 7’s team to this year’s Safari Sevens which kicks off on June 19 at the Rugby Football Union of East Africa ground.

Terry Bouhraoua who plays for Stade Francais Paris in the Top 14 league has been named as captain. He was with the Les Bleus team that won the Nancy Sevens this year. Pierre Kleur from Tarbes in Pro Div 2 returns after playing in the Safari Sevens last year.

Also in the team is Vincent Berreire who plies his trade in Top 14 with Beziers. He was in the France 7’s team for the last two legs of the 2008/09 IRB Sevens World Series in London and Edinburgh. Florent Gibouin is out of the squad after twisting an ankle during last weekend’s Roma Sevens. He has been replaced by Aurelien Sourrouille.

The French team is very strong as Safari Sevens is highly competitive which has increased the prestige of the tournament. Teams are in it to win it. Long may it continue. Perhaps ur7s will send a team to cover the tournament? You have a week to get here!
